Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden is the name of living houses belong to “Junior Guardian of the Crown Prince”. Lin is one of the most famous families during the period called “Taiwan under Japanese rule”, and they are made their fortune in Wufeng, Taiwan.

Residence of the Palace Guard is residence of Lins. There are five “jins” in it. The mansion and garden is divided into five different parts and each part is called one “jin”.

There are seven pillars at the entrance. The emperor’s palace adopted the same number of the pillears. And you can know how rich and famous the Lins is. The door was protected by four “Door Gods”: Qin Shubao, Yuchi Jingde, Wei Zheng and Zhong Kui.

In ancient China, eighty years old is blessed by calling it eight thousand years old. And when spring has left and autumn is coming, a year already passed. So this plaque is a blessing of longevity for the eighty first birthday of Ms. Yang.

It is surprising that the calligraphy of Li Hongzhang can be preserved after the earthquake. And the third jin did not destroyed.

Look at the sky, and just lean at the classical architecture in Wu-Fung. This is a corner in the Lin’s Family. The sculpture is exquisite and artistic!

The fifth jin is the place to worship their ancestors’ memorial tablet. The structure is charming and historic which around with some plants. Lots of visitors enjoy the surrounding.

At night, we can walk about outside. There are many Hakka lanterns in the picture. The splendid traditional Chinese style is displayed before you. Do you like it? A gentle breeze is blowing, the temple stays silent. The days are closing in now that autumn is here.

1999 Jiji earthquake almost destroyed the whole Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden. It is lucky that Lins made architects draw the whole mansion and garden onto papers. Because of the wisdom of the Lins, we can reconstruction the wonderful buildings.

Cloister of Time displays many letters and manuscripts of famous people and some heritages which was destroyed during 1999 Jiji earthquake. We have to say that Lins’ Family and their mansion and garden have recorded a really long period history of Taiwan.

Hall of Large Flowers The Hall of Large Flowers was used to host public banquets. Have you listened to the beautiful song “I’m not yours” sung by Jolin Tsai. It was made in this hall. The song in the new century gave the place more mystery.

Peonies have real function and are thought of auspicious flowers. There are eight petals in the edge layer of the peony which means richness. Encountering such beautiful flower in cold winter is a real warm thing, isn’t it?
